we love to mix in some mod

Anisa and I have so much fun talking about how we can mix styles we love.  I find that I am always drawn to interiors that have a bit of mod in them–it just keeps them fresh & unexpected.

One of the easiest way to mix a touch of mod is to add a chair in a traditional or rustic space…

Or another easy way is to add a bit of mod lighting:

 in our home

Anisa added a mod lamp to this traditional vignette for HGTV’s Design Wars

I love the mod dresser & lamp in Lauren Liess‘ bedroom

I added this table lamp on our old ’70s dresser in the boys’ room (Chris’ childhood dresser–not allowed to touch this one.  Boys can be so sentimental!)

Here she pairs a mod lantern with her country breakfast room.  (by the way–Anisa’s entire home will be shot for Woman’s Day later this month.  So excited for her!!!)

What about the design of St. Bartholomew’s Church?

Why shouldn’t churches be amazing, too?  We have to remember…..

  3. I was just thinking about this in the bedroom you showed the other day–with the floral chintz curtains and the panton chair. Loved how it made it so fresh and unexpected!

  4. I dont think id ever miss a Sunday service.

Go Anisa! Cannot wait for your sis to photograph my house when I get back.

  5. I just love your blog! I have been a fan for awhile now..those are georgeous pictures! We are remodeling our kitchen and I keep looking at yours to see how you style your shelves :) Thanks so much for the awesome inspiration! Brooke

  6. Had to giggle at the “boys can be so sentimental” :) My husband is the same way! He got upset when I painted over the formica top to a little desk that had been his. It looked awful with burn marks and scratches galore, too much to cover up with anything less than a tablecloth, but he was greatly offended that I’d dare cover the evidence of science experiments gone awry. hahahaha
