So Wyatt is out-growing his baby room. We recently gave our glider and ottoman to Chris’ cousin (so glad I wasn’t home when they got it. I am so emotionally tied to the chair where I nursed my babies!), he is ready for a big boy bed, and his soiled rug has got to go. Life and homes are always changing, aren’t they?
I inherited a red Persian one (like the one below) when I married Chris. I am really not a red person, but it has been growing on me. (Mainly because it has to grow on me. Of course he is much happier when I use something we have in the basement instead of buying new.) There are blue panels in Wyatt’s room with burlap roman shades which will stay….I think I can make the blue & red work.

Who knew I would ever be liking red & blue?
And for a little more blue–
The carriage sconce just got installed in our clients’ bath:
We are so in love with these sconces! Totally Anisa’s idea to do one off-set one. Dig that.
(I know it is missing the mirror)
And what about these rope pulls?
They are Sibella Court for Anthropologie. Don’t you love her?
Have a beautiful weekend…..Julie

I’m not a red fan either, but I’ve been surprised that I do like it in small doses. I love that type of rug and I think it will look really good!
I have been trying to get the red out of my house, but I find it keeps popping up. So, I have decided to embrace it. I think it is great in a boys room.
i’m a fan of red if it’s styled anything like these pics. as always thanks for the inspiration!
Julie..that’s so funny my baby boy growing out of his room and we are doing it up as I type and my hubbi paints! Recycled and reused is the theme for our re-do plus a trip to IKEA!! I love pops of red with yellow combined with greys and whites. Have fun. Looking foward to seeing it when it is complete. Lucky Wyatt. Sinead x
I’m loving this idea for your son’s room! I’m with you on loving white and neutrals, but I love the examples you showed with these colors mixed in. It does seem like a great fit for a growing, adventurous boy! Can’t wait to see what you come up with here
I have pops of red, green, orange etc. and love it. As long as there are lots of neutrals right?!
I think it will be great for a boys room – can’t wait to see the finished room!

If these inspirational images are anything to go by, Wyatt’s room will be stunning. I have this combination in my daughter’s room( more raspberry than red) & it is beautiful! Have a lovely weekend.. xx meenal

I think the red and blue is great. I was admiring that photo of the large wooden blue box under the wooden console in my Southern Living Style book last night but I’m not sure of the source either. I wanted sources for a ton of the photos in the book and I couldn’t find them.
