Got a bunch of things to cover today, please hang in there with me:
I posted this picture of a project from a year ago taken recently by Christina Wedge. Here are the rest of them…
Yeah, I know we got a misspelling. Just keeping it real. I told the homeowner (and friend) and she said, “That’s perfect!! I misspell everything.”
She said, “I want to have a love affair with my lighting.” She courted this one about three months before pulling the trigger. (Arteriors)
And into their dining room…
She has a love of all things animal: leopard, cow, zebra. Equal representation of all things with four legs. (see stencil below)
In the living room we repurposed their former dining room chandelier to create intimacy in this vast, two-story space. High enough to still see the tv, but low enough to gain some romantic lighting (they are all about date nights at home–the cutest couple ever!!)
They are both in the film industry, so we sprinkled their old camera collection throughout the home.
For the locals, it will be out on the AJC on October 23rd!!
Here are also two shots from Sarah Dorio of our kitchen that I haven’t posted yet. (They were so similar to the BHG shoot I just thought it would be better if I waited. She blows me away!!
(styling by Sarah and me–we had too much fun. Yes, same props as in the house above!)
I’ve gotten a lot of mileage off of that sequin pillow

But this post is so long because I am taking an indefinite break because of my favorite photographer, my sister, Jennifer Kesler. She’s the artist behind the following image:
I don’t think I ever mentioned that she’s my sister. I just didn’t want to take away any of her street cred as a photographer. She amazes me in every way. She’s a looker, too…
and a mom….
(her and Augusta. Is that not the best name ever?!)
daughter and sister anywhere.
(She was 19, I was 20 and my brother, Eddie, was 24 at his wedding! Babies…)
I am just still in shock she has cancer. Y’all know I don’t have to explain why I’ll be spending my time elsewhere. Any spare time will be spent hanging with her. I ask for your continued prayers for Jenn.
Life is crazy, though, and you can never wrap your head around it. Career-wise, what a great time! BHG article out this month, Emily Followill will be shooting the kitchen above (the one my sis shot) for a magazine at the end of the month, Anisa’s tv debut is this fall (Design Wars on HGTV begins to air on November 21st, so please watch
, and we are opening our shop (okay, totally a booth, but can we call it a shop?) at “The Queen” (Queen of Hearts Antiques and Interiors in Alpharetta) on November 1st. We’ll be decked out for Christmas (a white and sparkly Christmas, of course!) so come and see us! The open house is November 10th and there is a party, so we’d love to meet you.
I wish you all love and peace and happiness. Oh, and Barbara won the Michael S. Smith book. I’ll get that out to you!
Julie

You know your sister and your whole family will be in my prayers. Life is funny like that. You deserve all the success in the world – you’ve worked hard and earned it. Enjoy your time with your sister.
Julie…..there are no words of comfort that I can say to ease your pain. You constantly amaze me with your talent, and your honesty. I will pray for Jenn’s return to health, meanwhile if you need anything please call me. Sherry
Julie, am praying for your sister. I’m glad you’re able to take time to be with her.
(And, on a less serious note, the pictures of your work are beautiful!)
Love and prayers to your sister and family.
Julie
I absolutely LOVE your design talent and your wonderfully inspiring blog! Even though I have not heard you speak, your “voice” is very clear as you write. You seem humble and very “free spirited” (comes through from your beautiful posts) Thank you again for sharing your life and your home through your blog! I love reading it!
I can’t imagine what you and your family are going through… I will continue to pray for your sister, Jenn. God is a mighty God and He can do wonderous things!!
Warmly,
Terri
Love the pictures I have been furnishing my house and I look for inspiration everywhere!

Julie- can’t stop thinking of you and your sister. When I do, I pray. It’s so unfair and unjust. You aren’t alone and we’re with you both in spirit. Hugs, Abby
