cottage in the sky

Well, working on it becoming a cottage in the sky anyway.  Yesterday our client called his home a “mess in the sky”…I guess this is more accurate.  Not too long now.

When all is done we hope to have the best of country life and city life here :)

the tongue & groove is up in the kitchen and primed,

Soon this kitchen will have some white, some glass and some shiny herringbone tile.

We wanted to bring some charm into the builder-grade guest bath by adding a little wood & paint…

We usually stay in the historical colors, so Benjamin Moore’s Van Courtland Blue was the best pick for this space.

Marble is incredible, but can be so cold, too.  We wanted to warm it up in here–so every space that didn’t have marble now is covered with a board!

Don’t you love the look of white on wood?  (Our stain will be more walnutish-gray than this below from remodelista)

We went with more planking in their office…

And trim to give it a board-and-batten feel in the powder room.

I’ve made a few changes in our own home.  This is what happens while Chris is gone a day for work:  our dining room becomes dark!

I am loving it, though.  It is Behr’s Cracked Pepper in semi-gloss.  I think in a south-facing room you can get away with almost any color.

I’m hosting Anisa’s baby shower here in a week.  (Her little bit is due in April!)  There’s no better reason than a party to get your house looking good.  Are you that way before you host something?
