mass-out

I felt like you wanted some eye candy this Saturday, so here you go :)

Don’t know what to do with your wall?  Well, you could hire us (he he), or you could fill it up with a symmetrical mass-out of something.

botanicals are a beautiful and obvious choice  (want a cheap option?  buy a book of botanicals, rip out the pages and frame)

sketches  (buy real ones!!  buy from a local artist near you or support a real artist on Etsy.)

We used a reproduction of signs in this breakfast nook.  Christina Wedge photo.  (We love Christina)

don’t you love this green?  (and the tulip side table)  I think BHG but am not positive.

The master of the mass-out, Steven Gambrel.   How great is this hallway and how many times has it been copied?  So good.

He does it in bathrooms, too.

You know, he has been one of my biggest teachers and he doesn’t even know it.  I met him at ADAC a few months ago and I was giddy and got his autograph.  He is super-tall and gorgeous, too btw.

You can use metal medallions too.  Why not?

Love these maps from RH.  A good example, too, that you need to float your sofa and don’t worry about hiding some of the art.  It makes it more interesting!  Just like a dress that isn’t too revealing is actually sexier than one that shows it all.

Wow, I am pushing it with that analogy, huh?

Words are great.  (My girlfriend Lindsey Hene‘s home)

Breaking up one photo into many frames is so beautiful!  We are doing this soon with a high-res photo of Africa.  We will blow it up, cut it up and frame it.

You can mass-out mirrors.

antiqued or not.

Anisa painted words on buralp for our clients’ living room.

How great to have the truth right there front-and-center?

This blog post was sparked by our client’s text pic I just got.  She used paper to place where the frames will go.  She typed, “You like?”

So don’t be scared.  It’s just drywall (or plaster, where in that case be a little scared.)

Happy Weekend,

xo

I think sometimes when you stay in one hue you can really go nuts with pattern–which is what is going on here :)

Happy Wednesday,
