a gorgeous dark kitchen & light bath

Y’all know I LOVE white kitchens, but this farmhouse kitchen from March’s House Beautiful is to-die-for.  Isn’t it amazing?  I love how it has so many elements going on, but it isn’t too busy:

the roman shades with fringe

the pendants over the sink

white ceramic subway with dark grout

brick backsplash

warm, dark-stained oak cabinetry

cool, blue-grey painted walls

I love the design of the island!!  The indentation for the seating and the place on the end for bookshelves.  There isn’t a better accessory than a cookbook!

And I love that the designer mixed the modern and colorful hexagon tiles with the subway tiles.  Fearless!  (And we are putting those glass globe pendants over two vanities in a current bathroom reno–I can’t wait until this bathroom is done.  It will be so blogworthy!)

Formula for a great room:  fabric, metal, glass, wood, new & old.    Check.

(And speaking of that bathroom reno:  Can I just show you the inspiration for the transformation Anisa found in some book?  Is it not the cutest?  So picture something similar to this….with those globe pendants above.

Oh, and I should have added in yesterday’s post that I’m a tile snob.  I love Walker Zanger and Anisa and I strive to use them when possible.  (Lisa Drogos in the Atlanta Showroom is the best!)

The builder, Benning Grice recommended we use the 2 x 8 subway tiles with dark grout.  Love it!  We are calling him our third decorator :)

Anisa and I couldn’t decide between rustic or mod, so we came up with two boards:

“Country Mouse” Bath:

or

City Mouse Bath:

These city folk chose to be a little bit country….

Have a great weekend!  Julie

I really need to source those green hexagonal tiles. Could you steer me in the right direction please if you have any clues?
