To get a good feel for our clients’ desired styles, we will ask questions like:
“What design magazines do you buy?”
“What style of clothes do you love?”
“What are your favorite design blogs?” and
“Do you love any design shows on tv?”
A few times, Sarah Richardson pops up as a fave.
I think people are drawn to her clean yet lived-in look, her great use of color and white, and her mix of modern and cottage (as well as other styles).
Okay, of course she is a doll, too
Here are some of her modern/ cottage looks:
And clients really love red!! It is almost everyone’s favorite color. I find that so interesting.
Personally, I am drawn more toward her sidekick, designer Tommy Smythe. Why? not-too-sure. I find his spaces have more depth, texture and contrast. (2 of his rooms below)
So we did our best to channel Mrs. Sarah for our dear clients (with our own twist, of course!)
I love when you can look back on the plan and see a room come together.
yellow pillows–fabric is dwell studio
don’t zoom in–you are still apt to see price tags and empty frames!
yes, lamps not even plugged in yet
Not many clients can afford all high-end fabrics, but it is nice to mix some Schumacher with a little Pier one.
And our much-beloved stripe rug (this one gray & ivory)
large scale buffalo check is our nod to cottage
We had to have the pair of gray chairs with cream piping.
Anisa painted the antique turned-wood side table Chelsea Gray by Ben Moore. (Sarah is all about painted wood)
They requested a leather ottoman. Leather is much kinder than wood or metal for toddlers learning to walk!
They have two under two (God bless ‘em), so you can’t beat slipcovers. With growing families, we say either leather, slipcovered or dark upholstered sofas.
I know it is picture overload (again)–just excited to share the color!
Have a great day,
