poem to room: Wordsworth

design is just poetry to me.

Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting:
The soul that rises with us, our life’s star,
Hath had elsewhere its setting,
And cometh from afar.
Not in entire forgetfulness,
And not in utter nakedness,
But trailing clouds of glory, do we come
From God, who is our home:

William Wordsworth

if you need some eye candy…

You’re at the right place today.

I love so many blogs, but when I really need design inspiration that is right up my alley I go to these four blogs (and one of them I just found and am newly obsessed).

If you like our style here, you will love these, too. (Of course I love a lot of other blogs, too–but these are full of style that is cottage/vintage/modern/rustic/and touches of glam….just the right amount of white and the right amount of color.)

I need to ask Anisa what her favorite design blogs are–the ones she talks about the most are:

House of Turquoise
Things that Inspire
Pure Style Home
Delight by Design

Am I close, Nise?

Well, she and I have the love of Delight by Design in common.  Blair, in Wyoming (or Montana?), has an impeccable eye and I am always inspired by her mood boards, tear sheets and event inspiration.

My favorite Scandinavian blog is Sanctuary.  This Danish mom of two mixes ethereal family photos and shots of her home with that of dreamy white and vintage interiors.  I always love something here, and the way Scandinavians design their children’s rooms inspired my design for Liam’s green walls and bed.

And even though Department of the Interior has a pretty serious and political name (well, pun anyway), her images of interiors are anything but.  She knows her style, and everything she posts is dreamy, timeless, elegant and rich.  I love this blog!

And lastly, I just discovered Erin’s blog this weekend  (I don’t even remember how I got there!)  Her blog is called Erin Ever After, but it is so much more than wedding design…which is great since I have already been in two weddings.  Her style is fun & playful.  Here is a sample:

(where can I find this?  I want one.)

(this is Gwyneth’s Easter table.  Quite impressive, huh?  I think this is her home in the Hamptons.  I know this because I know way too much about a person I have never met.)

Lovely, right?

Going into my “next home” file or my “adventurous client” file.

Oh, and isn’t this tone-on-tone bedroom to elegant?  The rustic floors, the fur, the vintage chair–such a romantic yet simple way to decorate.

(sorry I don’t have the original sources of this stuff.)

She has hair inspiration, too…

makes me want to go au naturel with my roots.  Would help if I had her skin & cheekbones, too :)

And for my next event I’m copying sweet Drew.  I have always wanted to do this.

Erin’s blog is full of this stuff!

Have a great Monday……Julie
