a little impatient

I imagine this part of my personality drives Anisa crazy.  She knew yesterday when I started snapped pics of a not-yet-decorated kitchen that they would be posted today.

She was right.

We can’t take credit for the idea to surprise our clients.  Daniel, our contractor, thought it would be nice to give them a little something when they were moving back into their kitchen.  What contractor buys cookies and fruit for the homeowners (and does amazing work?).  We heart him big.

Our little gift was to stop by and style the shelving a bit with her own china.  They are definitely not “done”, and I promise professional pictures when they are!

This is how the kitchen looked moments before (the sheet is up so they wouldn’t peek :)

Can I tell you we are in love with the table lamps on the island and the blue ceiling?

(We recommended Restoration Hardware’s Glacier)

Our clients’ art on the hood is really primitive, so we kept things white and fresh so this (and her toile plates) would be the only stars of the kitchen.

The bracket below was in the running, but it got 86′d because it had too much color.

The secret pantry door is completed.

Is this the sweetest, nondescript handle ever?!  (homeowners chose this–they have such classic taste!)

The wall that separated the keeping room from the kitchen is now no more. (Daniel & Anisa)

The fridge used to be surrounded by cabinetry full of angles (why so many angles in ’90s homes?).  Now it is solo.

The sconces are up in the keeping room and ready to shine the spotlight on a family photo collage

We sure have been blessed with amazing clients.  Thanks for hiring us and trusting us!

making a ’90s home into an old farmhouse

So good seeing our ideas come to fruition (and so grateful for trusting clients!)  This family has a large home built in the ’90s.  There are so many odd angles in homes from that decade.  A challenge if you are wanting an old farmhouse/ cottage look instead.

We suggested hiding the pantry door which took up so much attention in the soon-to-be lovely cottage kitchen.  We love Daniel, the contractor, who is daring and always figures out a way!

Now you see pantry door, now you don’t :)

oldish sconces will flank it…

As well as a grouping of antique mirrors (or new mirrors that look old) on the door…

In lieu of pendants, two mod gourd lamps on the island (if you like this look and don’t like cords, you may plan ahead and cut holes in the stone or butcher block to conceal them.)

And no old farmhouse is complete without a soothing painted ceiling…

And the coffered ceiling was ripped out–in its place, beams and more 1 x 6 boards on the wall. (in the keeping room)

I also must tell you I survived my twenty year reunion.  I even enjoyed it!  I didn’t go to the 5 or 10-year, so I gotta say I am glad I made it to one of them.  I mostly loved seeing the boys (now men) I grew up with in my neighborhood.  To see them now with endearing crinkles around their eyes and gray stubble on their chin, it was priceless.

The stories were also priceless…

The former captain of the cheerleading squad who recently was living out west in her car to find herself.  She’s the one we all thought would be married with three kids at 24, not married.  Love it.

The girl we always knew could dance is now following her dream as a professional showgirl.  You should see her legs!

The great, all-around guy who both girls and guys loved is still that great guy.  His wife is beautiful and warm and I love seeing that he is such a great husband and dad. (you, Rob–I know your wife reads :)

And, of course, there is the crazy one who is still crazy and pulled down someone’s skirt on the dance floor and sneaked in her own cooler of beer to the Westin!

I have no good pics, just a shot of several 38-year-old women getting down to tricky.

In case you forgot  (the lego action is for Liam)
