breakfast with Schumacher

What a fun morning!

Karen and Ashley from Schumacher in Atlanta really blew us away yesterday.

They brought coffee, mimosas, bear claws, bagels, fruit….you name it.  Oh, and they brought a ton of fabric.

We heard more “oohs” and “aahhhs” than a baby shower for triplets.

My favorite from the new woven line is this Vail Chenile.  Amazing.

The definitive star of the day is the new Shanghai Peacock.  It’s like the new Dragon.  To die for!

Can you see this on the wall in a pale, pale gray bathroom??

I think I dreamt of it last night.

Thanks again Karen & Ashley (and Schumacher!)

our new guest room

I know I don’t post near as much as I used to.  One reason is just life, and another reason is pinterest.  Before I got on there, I used the blog as a place to share amazing images that inspired me.  Now, though, I feel that pinterest has taken that job.  Sad to say, but true.  Now I usually only feel the urge to share when it is something new to us…something we are working on.

There is a lot going on in our new guest room, but I’m kinda liking it.  Poor guest rooms usually get the hodge podge of furniture you have in your basement, right?  Ours in no exception.

The design began with the very red oriental rug I inherited via marriage.

The wall color is Pratt & Lambert’s Pacific and I’m in love with it.  It is quite bright, but I needed something that could put up a fight next to the rug.  They are currently battling it out.

The iron and bras bed is mine from childhood.  I still love it (my sister has a matching one and she still sleeps on hers.)

I cannot stress to you have roman shades made of burlap with blackout lining for a bedroom.  This has helped in our naptime years tremendously!  A custom window treatment is definitely pricier up front, yet it is a value.

I know I can do lighting overload, but you need different light if you are reading, on the computer, etc. (plus I just wanted some gold in the room.)

Had to add some of Windsor Smith’s striped fabric (cream & gold)–it needed a little something.

Grandma already stayed over this past weekend in her new room.  She approves :)

Have a lovely week,

Julie
