our favorite blue paint colors

Here’s a little gallery of our favorite go-to-tried-and-true blues.  Many of these are historical colors–Anisa is always reaching for these first.

The ones on the left column are great for ceilings or for a soft & peaceful bedroom:

You may have to squint to see the blue ceiling.  They can be subtle, but really change the mood & lighting of a room.

a porch we designed a year or so ago  (This home is featured on HGTV’s Bang for Your Buck this fall, too)

light, light blue walls are great with antiques & dark wood.

The middle column are colors great for furniture, cabinetry, doors and walls!:

(I think Carter Kay did this.  Right, Pam?)

Garden & Gun

West Elm

 Domino–a favorite entry

a repurposed dresser in Anisa’s little girl’s room  (don’t ask about the hat.  That’s another post.)

Pacific in our guest room

Mill Springs Blue on the back of the cabinet.

The last column is for those who are a bit daring:

We used Van Courtland Blue above….

what a great bed!

electric blue here for a bold client.

One of my all-time favorites uses of blue from Domino.  So good, right?  I can go on and on with pictures.  I guess I need to stop somewhere.  Have to go make lunches now :)

I think I’ll do green next, our other fave!

Have a great day,

Julie

shades of blue & red

So Wyatt is out-growing his baby room.  We recently gave our glider and ottoman to Chris’ cousin (so glad I wasn’t home when they got it.  I am so emotionally tied to the chair where I nursed my babies!), he is ready for a big boy bed, and his soiled rug has got to go.  Life and homes are always changing, aren’t they?

I inherited a red Persian one (like the one below) when I married Chris.  I am really not a red person, but it has been growing on me.  (Mainly because it has to grow on me.  Of course he is much happier when I use something we have in the basement instead of buying new.)  There are blue panels in Wyatt’s room with burlap roman shades which will stay….I think I can make the blue & red work.

And here are images that are inspiring my blue & red pairing:

Who knew I would ever be liking red & blue?

And for a little more blue–

The carriage sconce just got installed in our clients’ bath:

We are so in love with these sconces!  Totally Anisa’s idea to do one off-set one.  Dig that.

(I know it is missing the mirror)

And what about these rope pulls?

They are Sibella Court for Anthropologie.  Don’t you love her?

Have a beautiful weekend…..Julie
