We have so many good things in the works…an entire home renovation, kitchen renovation and some decorating projects. In July we will have some good photographs to share! Right now all we have are pics of drywall and dirt.
Hopefully we will be adding one more renovation to the mix–ours!!! Our home is under contract and we placed an offer on this 1974 beauty below:
(update–sorry, there was a home here yesterday. Chris read the post last night and said, “Julie, we are in the middle of negotiations. You can’t post that! If they see the house then they will know we really want it and we’ll have no wiggle room.” True. I’m not always very smart. I’ll repost if we (hopefully) go under contract.)
Chris and I must really have a thing for ranches.
I am doing my best not to get my hopes up because I know the stars have to align for everything to work out. There is a great story to tell about how this all happened (totally a God-thing. Our home wasn’t even on the market), but I don’t want to tell yet.
This home can really be our dream home! It has the yard Chris has dreamed of and it’s south-facing and sunny and it has so much potential. I feel like our family is a good fit for this neighborhood, too, and our boys will love it.
We are thinking modern farmhouse meet mid-century modern.
We are budgeting for Chris’ Airstream barn/woodshop, new white exterior & remove the stone facade, tons of new windows and rip out that front deck and add boxwoods and planters, and of course a new light-filled door!
Here is the entry. The ’70s floor will stay. Chris loves it and you know I’m all about honoring the era that the home was built.

We will remove that closet, change the stairs and blow out that wall behind the stairs.

The room below is what we are calling the cozy room.
(’70s wood-paneled room here)
It is adjacent to the kitchen and we think it will be cost-prohibitive to remove it. We hope to add 1″ x 8″ vertical boards (painted white), a new fireplace, and white painted floors! The rest of the home will be stained oak, but I’m dying to have a little touch of light floors.
I plan to fill this room with vintage art. I have such a love of old paintings! Think a little bit like Roman & Williams:
The backyard isn’t large by any means, but it is just enough for Chris to have his vegetable garden. He has the green thumb of the family.
I can’t wait to share this dream with y’all it it really comes true!
(picture nice & flat backyard here!)
Here are some more images that are inspiring our design of this home—a little boho, a little country, a little modern. Our three faves.
Can you stand it? Picture this girl and this lamp in a white barn. Basically my entire vision.

I’ll keep you posted! If all goes as planned we will close on July 12th. When we sign the papers I’ll tell ya the whole story.
