boho-vintage artist’s studio, etc.

So all is well with sweet baby & mama.  Tired, but so happy & so blessed, she says.

In other news, many of you have asked about my sister, Jennifer.  She is doing so well–she thanks you for all your thoughts, prayers & gifts.

She has had the journey of her life!  Here we are years ago with our niece, Jordan.

and more recently…

And now, with short hair (and coming back sooo curly, too!)

Whenever I post pics of Jennifer Kesler Photography, I’m talking about her….(like a recent pic below she took of our dining room)

She is crazy-talented.  By day she is an art teacher (and a mom–but that’s all the time), in her spare time she takes photos, paints, sculpts….amazes me.

She can now add to her list breast cancer survivor.  I guess you never realize how strong you truly are.  They got it all, AMEN.

Jennifer is moving into a new (old) place soon.  It has character and is in a great location, but is definitely in need of some lovin’.

I can’t wait to help her bring life & love into this place.  And color!

Here’s a snap of its beigeness:

My sister’s style is somewhat similar to mine.  I’d call her a boho/ vintage/ artist/ mod.

I’m a boho/ modern/ country so we meet in the middle.

I know you know this look, but pictures display the style so much better than me.

If her new place was an outfit…

and the kitchen, perhaps:

Oh, and her favorite color is orange (a close second is blue).  So for the bedroom, maybe:

She has tons of her own paintings, charcoals, pencil sketches, etc.

I’ve got to get her to let me throw them up everywhere!  (example:  Serena and Lily)

And she will need a little nook to create….

Can you picture her pencil books and boxes styled like this along with her pottery from art school?

And an eclectic place to eat:

I love this dark and rich dining space:

The bathroom, maybe keep light with a bold stripe, a plant and some wood:

The best thing about boho design is you can stretch a dime (what we will be doing….).  The look is collected, warm, and old pieces mixed with new.

Roman and Williams are boho masters.  Love them!!

Find a vintage rug, two rattan chairs at yard sales, some modern pieces, and splurge on lighting, of course!

Would love to frame some Les Indiennes papers or recreate some ourselves.

I think such a beautiful contrast to her beloved orange is a smokey/ blue/ gray/ green wall. (like below)

Three paint colors I am suggesting to her to achieve this look:

Hazel/ Sherwin Williams

I’ll keep you posted, of course.

I have to post the song below.  My sis stayed with us last weekend and we blasted this and sang out loud with our kids.  They are still young enough we can get away with it.

If you don’t yell, “F I R E!!!!!  W E   C A N   B U R N   B R I G H T E R,  T H A N   T H E   S U N N N N N N!” then you just don’t have a pulse.

a reveal & a request

I want to share some pics with y’all of a recent install…

This ikat rug is FLOR tiles.  With the clients having 3 dogs, they can just replace a tile at a time if it gets soiled.  It doesn’t totally match up, but that’s the point.  I would totally buy one of these for our home.

and with the lights off:

We had fun styling their hutch.  They have inherited several sets of china (the real, good stuff!)  We chose our favorite two sets and played away.  The metal buckets above are from anthro  (we needed to add some height since their ceilings are so tall)

Our favorite room might be the small powder room.  It is a white-out except for the wood-and-blue carved mirror.

The long mirror reflects a row of vintage Williamsburg prints on the opposite wall.

Okay, both pictures aren’t great.  But I thought I would show both versions…

The hallway walls are a gallery white-out as well.  Sometimes, more is more.

We transformed this builder-grade guest bath into a bath with some character and style.  Board-and-batten look wood detail, a carriage sconce, rope pulls and tons of Van Courtland blue were our selections.

(I know these pics are so bad and grainy.  Forgive me!  These are the best we could do with this project.)

Our clients had a new, modern four-posted bed made.  It is white-washed.  Our favorites are the custom super-long bolster with ties (Barbara Barry Poetical) and the vintage wooden typewriter table (one of Lisa Gabrielson’s finds at The Queen of Hearts!)

The extra-tall Currey & Co white crackle lamps are pretty sweet, too.

We carried the white-and-wood theme into the master bathroom.

And white planks, a star pendant & a striped rug were brought into the office.  (I am still always an English teacher…I can’t believe I just employed passive voice.)

And I am asking for prayer requests from our readers (okay, I’m kinda sad that no one comments anymore.  I can see that some people still read, though!)  Please pray that Anisa and I have wisdom, guidance and strength.  We are really going through a tough trial of the spirit right now.  I can’t fill you in, but we need prayer.  Thank you so…

Julie
